All about Chaitra Navratri 2020

That time of the year is already here wen we engage in celebration of nine days of festivities. The first day of the Hindu Lunar calendar is here. This period is also referred to as Chaitra. By virtue of this period, the Navratri is reffered to as Chaitra Navratri, also reffered to as Vasanta Navratri and Rama Navratri.
The nine days festivity revolves around worshipping Goddes Shakti and her nine forms. This Navratri is immensely popular in Northern parts of India.

What the legends say..
While the cultures and tales vary, the common denominating factor during Navratri is ow the good conquers the evil. Around Chaitra Navratri, the legend says that Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasura who had defeated all Gods- Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
The culmination of the Chaitra Navratri on the ninth day is celebrated as Ram Navami, the ominous day when Lord Rama was born.

Other Relevance of Chaitra Navratri
Beginning from March-April period, Chaitra navratri is the perfect time for Kalash Sthapana puja. People indulge in such puja at their workplaces and homes. The puja of kalash sthapana brings health and prosperity in the lives of the devotees.

Below are the dates of Chaitra navratri puja, and their relevance:
Day 1: 25th March 2020

Maa Shailputri Puja
The Navratri festivity begins with the worship of Maa Shailputri. She is the daughter of the Mountain, Himalayas. She is the ruler of Moon in astrological terms. Praying her and engaging in her worship has a placating effect on the Moon.
Day 2: 26th March 2020

Maa Brahmacharini Puja
Maa Brahmacharini is considered to be an epitome of love and wisdom. She is considered to be the unmarried avatar of Maa Parvati. She is the ruler of Planet Mars and worshipping her placates an unfavorable Mars.
Day 3: 27th March 2020

Maa Chandraghanta Puja
Maa Chandraghanta is the provider of bravado to her worshippers. She is said to have a calm temperament and she has innate association with the Moon. In astrological terms, Maa Chandraghanta rules the Venus and an unfavorable Venus can be placated worshipping this Goddess.
Day 4: 28th March 2020

Maa Kushmanda Puja
She is saif to be the Goddess who can reside inside the mighty Sun. She blesses her worshipers with wealth and strength. She also guides and directs the Sun. Thus, an unfavorable Sun can be pacified by worshipping Maa Kushmanda.
Day 5: 29th March 2020

Maa Skandamata Puja
She is the mother of Lord Karthikeya and she is prayed on the 5th day of Navratri. She is known as the Goddess of fire and renders motherly love on her worshippers. She is also the ruler of Planet Mercury. Conducting her puja helps in pacifying an unfavorable Mercury.
Day 6: 30th March 2020

Maa Katyayani Puja
The Legend says that Maa Durga took the incarnation of Maa Katyayani to kill the demon Mahishasura. She is also referred to as the Warrior Goddess. She rules the planet Jupiter and her puja helps in pacifying an unfavorable Jupiter.
Day 7: 31st March 2020

Maa Kalaratri Puja
Maa Kalaratri is the destroyer of darkness and impurities. She is considered to be the most angered avatar of Maa Durga. Maa Kalaratri rules Planet Saturn (Shani). Worshipping her and performing her puja helps in pacifying the unfavorability of Shani.
Day 8: 1st April 2020

Maa MahaGauri Puja
Maha Gauri is considered exteremely fair in complexion, and this is based on a famous legend. Lord Shiva cleaned all dust and impurities from Maa Parvati’s body, who took over the brint of natural calamities. That’s when her real complexion came out. She is the ruler of Dragon’s Head, Rahu. An unfavorable Rahu can be pacified by worshiping Maa Mahagauri.
Day 9: 2nd April 2020

Maa Siddhidatri Puja
Siddhi refers to as spirituality and Datri means giver. Hence, Maa Siddhidatri is known to empower devotees with knowledge. She is also the ruler of Ketu, and hence an unfavorable Ketu can be pacified while performing Maa Siddhidatri Puja.

Ram Navami
Ram Navami is celebrated as the birth of Lord Rama. Recitation of Ramayana and Ramraksha Strota is widely popular on Rama Navami.
Day 10: 3rd April 2020

Navtratri Parana
It is the ominous day when the nine day festivity of Chaitra Navratri comes to an end. Also being the day when kanya pujan is performed after Bhagwati Durga Visarjan. 9 little girls are prayed to and offer food, gifts, etc.
